BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (HONS) ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS

SPECIALIZATION:

• Instrumentation and Control
• Computer Systems Engineering
• Micro Electronics
• Communications Systems
• Power Systems Engineering

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a very broad field of study encompassing many diverse areas such as microelectronics, microprocessors, digital systems, computer, control and instrumentations, communications, signal processing, robotics, energy conversion and power systems.

PROGRAMME EMPHASIS

The programme emphasises the development of strong fundamental of engineering science especially Mathematics and Physics, followed by a thorough coverage of electrical and electronics core courses such as circuit theory, digital and analogue electronics, signal and systems and microprocessors.

In the later years of study, students are required to complete projects ranging from engineering design and prototyping and other topics from relevant industrial problems.

Prior to completion of study, students will also have the opportunity to specialise in selected areas, such as Instrumentation and Control, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Communication Systems and Micro Electronics.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Industry requires a large number of engineers to pioneer new developments, to undertake design and supervise production, to market and to install and operate equipment. Other areas include manufacturing and automation, electronics, telecommunications, process plants, automotive, power generation and supply and building services. Graduates could also make a career in microelectronics industries, production management, operation and maintenance, consultancy, research, marketing and technical services.
