BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (HONS) CHEMICAL

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) CHEMICAL
SPECIALIZATION:
•Industrial Environmental Engineering
•Process Plant Engineering
•Petroleum Engineering
•Gas and Petrochemical Engineering
•Process Analysis and Control
Chemical Engineering involves the application of engineering principles to the design, construction and operation of industrial processing plants. At UTP students are provided with opportunities to explore various chemical engineering related fields - industrial environment engineering, petroleum engineering and gas and petrochemical engineering.
PROGRAMME EMPHASIS
The programme stresses on the need for a strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, followed by a thorough coverage of basic engineering courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mass and Heat Transfer.

In the later years, students are exposed to unit operations, reaction engineering and process control.

In addition to the above courses, students have the opportunity to specialise in selected areas such as Industrial Environment Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Gas and Petrochemical Engineering, Process Plant Engineering and Process Analysis and Control.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Chemical engineers generally work at any industrial processing plants such as those dealing with petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and food processing. The job involves supervision of plant operations and maintenance, troubleshooting operational problems related to processing, and undertaking plant modification work for process improvement.
